SIM Shipping/Returns

When should I expect to receive my SIM card?

You should receive your Hipsim  2-5 days prior to you departure.

Do I get to keep the SIM card?

This is a SIM rental service, so we’ll need you to send it back to us when you’re done using it.

How do I return the SIM card to Hipsim?

We’ll provide you with a return envelope that you should place in the mail upon returning to the U.S.

SIM cards should be mailed at latest within 3 business days of your return.

Do you provide overnight shipping for SIM rentals?

Yes, at a shipping fee of $20. Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee next-day delivery, but in time-sensitive circumstances we will do our best to meet your needs. Please call our office if you are in need of an urgent rental.


What’s the purpose of an access code?

The access code is simply the easiest way to dial internationally. It lets you dial to the U.S. and Europe without paying excessive roaming fees.

How do I use my access code?

All you need to do is have the given contact in your favorites and then dial. For greater convenience, we recommend downloading a free app which will put in the access code for you once you begin dialing the international prefix.

What if I dial without using the access code?

The call will not be included in your unlimited minutes, and you will be charged a rate of 50 cents per minute. Fortunately with our user-friendly app, it’s extremely easy to enable the access code and avoid this fee.

Can I use my American number while traveling abroad?

Absolutely. We allow you to choose a U.S. number, and you can forward your current number to the one provided by Hipsim. This enables you to have your current number ring even while traveling internationally.


When do I pay?

Payments are made upon reservation. Any future charges from usage not included in your plan (such as from texting or unqualified international calls) will be billed within 30 days of your return to the U.S.

How can I pay?

We accept American Express, Discover, Visa & Mastercard credit cards. If you would like to use an alternative payment method, please contact us.

Is there a deposit fee?

Yes, there a $100 authorization charge that will be removed once the SIM is returned to us.

Plan Details

When will my SIM be activated?

Your SIM will start working at 12 AM the day that you land abroad.

Am I able to dial internationally to a country not covered by my rental?

Yes, but your call will be charged at a rate of 50 cents per minute. (rates are subject to change)

What happens if I use more than 5 GB of data?

You will always have access to an unlimited amount of data. However after 5 GB of usage, your speeds may slow down.

For which countries do I have unlimited minutes?

Check out our coverage page to see exactly which 40 countries are included in your Hipsim rental.

Additionally, you will have unlimited calling to the U.S. when dialing with our access code.

What type of number will I receive?

You will receive a U.K. phone number with the prefix 44.

Will my number change if I enter another country?

No. With Hipsim you will have the convenience of remaining with the same phone number in all 40 countries.

Is it possible to send text messages?

Yes. Please note that texting within your country will be charged at a rate of $1 per text, and international texts will be charged at $2 per text.

What’s a good alternative for texting?

We recommend using WhatsApp, a free app to send and receive messages using your plan’s data.

Will my phone work as an internet hotspot?

Currently, your phone will not be usable as a WIFI hotspot. However, you will be able to take advantage of your unlimited data at all times.

Can I use my current smartphone internationally?

To verify if your phone is unlocked for international use, you must check with your current carrier. For example, Verizon 4G smartphones are all unlocked.

Do I need to change the APN settings?

For iOS users, APN settings will change automatically. For Android users, we will provide you with simple instructions for changing the APN.

No worries! We have a stellar customer support team ready to help around the clock, wherever you are.

Is there a minimum rental?

Yes, our minimum rental is 7 days.

Are long-term rentals available?

Do you offer group discounts?

Absolutely, we are happy to offer discounted group rates. Please contact our office for more information.

What are the benefits of opening a corporate account?

You will have premium service and superior pricing. For exact details, please reach out to our office.

Do you offer SIM cards for other countries?

We will be launching additional rental options within a couple of months, including a Global SIM that will offer unlimited usage anywhere in the world. If you are in need of such a SIM at an earlier date, we encourage you to contact our office to see how we can best fulfill your needs.
